And then the first part of verse 8:

Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, 1 Corinthians 5:8

Obviously, this is a preview of the Lords table… Everything done here should be of a pure heart in Christ as he says in the next section of this verse:

nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:8

We should eat the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.   Obviously, they were not eating it and now they are starting to remember what being a follower of Christ is all about.
