The language is very clear. Corinthian members ought not take each other to the law courts. I don’t want to read into the text what I think let us stick to the text to find out what God is saying.
We need to look a little closer to the next five verses. Paul asks question after question up to verse 5!!! 😊 and then one more in verse 6 which I missed on my first reading.
Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbour, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? 1 Corinthians 6:1
2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world?
If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?
3 Do you not know that we will judge angels?
How much more matters of this life?
4 So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? 1 Corinthians 6:2-4
As you can see. In this section Paul fires off six questions. The Corinthians are in a privileged position if we mirror read. Let us answer what could be the answers…
